Artist Statement
My work is a collection of porcelain vessels that are cataloging my exploration of the mystical and occult realms with intentions of unraveling truths within the enigma that cloaks the universe and human experience. Taking into consideration my own journey into spirituality, meditation, and the practice of magick, my work embodies symbolism with charged motifs painted in luminous hues of blue and orange hoping to strike a contemplation on the deeper dimensions of existence. Inspired by sources such as the occult, symbolism, alchemical manuscripts, and the works of painters like Marc Chagall, my work highlights the invisible and mysterious interconnectedness of the human experience with the divine.
In my creative process, I combine the texture of pinching with expressive brushstrokes and sgraffito to imbue my work with a sense of multi-dimensionality. I think of my work as three dimensional paintings that happen to be on functional forms. Each piece invites a silent collaboration between maker and beholder, allowing them to infuse their own interpretations and intentions onto the work's purpose.
